Chris La Tray is a Métis storyteller and Montana’s Poet Laureate for 2023 – 2025. He won the 2018 Montana Book Award and a 2019 High Plains Book Award for his first book, One-Sentence Journal. His third book, a work of memoir/history called Becoming Little Shell, won the Reading the West Book Award and the Pacific Northwest Book Award in 2025.
